How Does It Work?
CariVu uses patented transillumination technology to help identify occlusal, interproximal and recurrent types of cavities and tooth decay. The CariVu hugs closely to the tooth and covers it in a safe, almost-infrared light to make the enamel appear transparent. This allows dental professionals to identify lesions and cracks and better treat your teeth.
The DEXIS CariVu allows dentists to effectively see through a patient’s tooth to identify areas suffering from decay. While portable and more effective than x-rays, the CariVu images still read like x-rays, giving dental staff an easy-to-grasp diagram of a patient’s teeth. What’s more is that some studies show that the DEXIS CariVu is even more accurate in detecting dental caries than traditional x-rays, making it an obvious choice for dentists who want to treat their patients in the most accurate and efficient way possible.
